| WCKC MEETING MINUTES September 15, 2011 CALL TO ORDER Mary called the meeting to order at 7:32 pm. LAST MEETING’S MINUTES There were no corrections so the minutes stand approved as published. PRESIDENT’S REPORT Mary-No Report. RECORDING SECRETARY’S REPORT Shannon-No Report. TREASURER’S REPORT Jim-He passed out his report. Thank you to Mary for going over the books. She found everything to be in order. We settled up with the CKC for the catalogs. We are still sitting on a good bit of money so Jim is still interested in looking into a building. We will discuss this more at the board meeting. CORRESPONDING SECRETARY’S REPORT Robin-She received a post card from Robert’s Arena offering an area for things like dog shows, etc. She will look into it more. She also received a thank you to the club from one of the 4H members. 1st VICE PRESIDENT (PROGRAMS) Jaime-Not Present. Shannon has contacted Circle Tail and they will be here next month to present a program for us. Mary has tried to contact a lady that has been helping the dogs in Afghanistan, but has not had heard contacts returned. 2nd VICE PRESIDENT (TRAINING) Suzy-Classes begin again at the fairgrounds next week on Wednesday, September 21st. Suzy will get a check from Jim to pay the fairgrounds. Jim will take care of getting the mats from the trailer to the building. SHOW COMMITTEE Diane-Not present. Mary had a report that all judges have been hired for the 2012 show except for a Toy judge. Kim will send Robin a copy of the pledge donation form for trophies so it can get out to members. PUPPY MATCH The 2012 Puppy Match is scheduled at the Lebanon Armory, April 1st, the weekend before Easter. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Meet the Breeds-Jim was instrumental in pulling this event together and it was perfect to coincide with AKC’s Responsible Dog Ownership month. We had several breeds represented: English Cocker Spaniel, Boston Terriers, Labradors, Pomeranians, Doberman. Pictures with “Dogs on Hogs” was a big hit. The children were aloud to be in the pen with the small dogs, which, of course, they loved. Robin put up a rally course. We would love to do it again next year. We had good weather and good participation. Overall, it was a really nice event for the club to be a part of. NEW BUSINESS Promotional/Marketing Items-Robin talked about providing promotional items to the general public during our Meet the Breeds, Fair, Dog Fest, etc. She had looked into pricing for clickers, pens, etc. Suzy said she would provide Robin with a link to a site Suzy uses that may have better pricing on some of the promotional items. Robin also brought up the subject of a Tupperware fund raiser in which the club would profit 50% of what the club sells. Mary asked Robin to table it for now. Business Cards-Jim suggested that the club invest in business cards to be handed out at functions similar to Meet the Breeds, etc. We realized there was a need for the cards at the AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day/Meet the Breeds in Waynesville as there were several people asking about our club and wanting to know if we had a business card. Jim said he knew of a person who could print up the business cards for us at a very reasonable price. Jim made a motion that the Club invest in 500 business cards. Motion seconded by Jim Hobart. Motion carried. Membership Dues-Jim asked that Shannon send him an up-to-date membership list so that he can send dues notification to every member. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS The club welcomed George Moore and Jonna Tarpoff for their first visit to our club. They have been a part of our training classes. BRAGS Joye Ford’s Border Terrier “Bailey” during the month of June Q’d 17 out of 19 runs in Agility. End of June Bailey received her MACH title (Master Agility Ch) As of 6/30/11, Bailey is #6 Border Terrier in Agility. The top 5 in each breed in Agility is invited to the Eukanuba Agility Invitational. Since the no. 5 Border Terrier declined the invite, Bailey was the next one in line so Joye accepted and is heading to Orlando in December.
